Announcing Book #5 – Bump Elliott

January 30 marks the birthday of a very, very special man! Chalmers “Bump” Elliott turns 94 years old today, and many people in Michigan and Iowa in particular know that Bump is truly a remarkable person. Bump Elliott had an amazing record of success in athletics. He was an inaugural inductee of the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame, and for good reason. Super Bowl Hawkeyes

Six Hawkeye players will have a strong rooting interest in the outcome of Super Bowl LIII between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams Sunday in Atlanta. Four Hawkeye players are with the New England organization – James Ferentz, Adrian Clayborn, Cole Croston, and Riley McCarron – while Austin Blythe and Henry Krieger-Coble are with the Los Angeles Rams. Blythe is expected to start for the Rams in Super Bowl LIII, while Clayborn and Ferentz are on the Patriots’ active roster and could see action in this year’s Super Bowl. Celebrating 28 Days of Duke Slater

I’m very pleased to announce that I’m running a new series in February in conjunction with Black History Month that I’m calling 28 Day Slater.  It’s a way to honor and remember a great pioneer for African-Americans in the fields of sports and law. 28 Day Slater is a project I’ve been wanting to do for the past couple of years, but I just haven’t been able to carve out enough time to write a daily post the last few Februarys.  This year, I’m making it happen.
