What It Means to Be a Hawkeye Radio Tour

I mentioned in my last post that I’m trying to do a better job of recognizing people in the media who have complimented my books.  I recently looked back at some of my earlier posts and realized that October 2011 was one of the most fun months I’ve had during my writing journey…and so far, I’ve completely failed to mention that month!  So take a trip back with me, if you will, to a year and a half ago – long before this website was launched – and let me tell you about one of my favorite professional experiences: the What It Means to Be a Hawkeye radio tour….

Random Hash

I hope you’ve been enjoying my special posts celebrating Super Bowl week.  However, I need to interrupt the festivities briefly…with a super edition of Random Hash! Chris Street and Hawkeye Basketball I have to admit…I was very impressed two weeks ago with how the university handled the 20th anniversary of the passing of Chris Street.  The CMS patches on the jerseys and the Chris Street warmup shirts were a great idea, and the crowd clearly rose to the occasion.  You could tell that the Hawkeye fans just weren’t going to let the team lose to Wisconsin.  After the game, the…

Hawkeye Heisman Trophy Finalists

The Iowa Hawkeyes have had ten Heisman Trophy finalists over the years.  This week we’ve looked back on Iowa’s only Heisman Trophy winner, Nile Kinnick, as well as the four Hawkeyes (Alex Karras, Randy Duncan, Chuck Long, and Brad Banks) who came in second in the voting for the award.  Iowa’s four Heisman Trophy runner ups put them second in the nation (behind Oklahoma) in the number of guys who have finished just short of winning the award.
