What It Means to Be a Hawkeye Radio Tour

I mentioned in my last post that I’m trying to do a better job of recognizing people in the media who have complimented my books.  I recently looked back at some of my earlier posts and realized that October 2011 was one of the most fun months I’ve had during my writing journey…and so far, I’ve completely failed to mention that month!  So take a trip back with me, if you will, to a year and a half ago – long before this website was launched – and let me tell you about one of my favorite professional experiences: the What It Means to Be a Hawkeye radio tour….

Random Hash

It’s good to be back!  I had a terrific time in Iowa visiting family over Thanksgiving.  My wife and I were at Kinnick Stadium on Friday, and the season really came full circle for me.  I was in Chicago at Soldier Field when the 2012 Hawkeyes kicked off the season with a victory over Northern Illinois, and I watched them suffer a tough loss against Nebraska to end the year. It was a frustrating season, obviously.  The game against Nebraska was there for the taking…14 points would have gotten the job done.  Just two touchdowns!  But just like the game…

Random Hash

Barring an absolute miracle, we only have two more weeks of 2012 Hawkeye football.  Fortunately, Iowa basketball is stepping up to fill the void.  Plus, Gary Dolphin makes a cameo on Sunday Night Football…with a nod to Gus Schrader, it’s all part of today’s Random Hash. Hawkeye Football So disappointing.  By falling to Indiana and Purdue in consecutive weeks, Iowa is pretty much guaranteed to be spending the holidays at home.  This is looking like Iowa’s worst team since Ferentz’ first squad in 1999.  The 2000 Hawkeye team only went 3-9, but they played a very difficult non-conference schedule, and…
